Commercial Portable AC FAQs
How is a portable AC unit sized for a Charlotte commercial space?
BTU output is the key sizing metric. Our smallest unit, the Mini Cooler, produces 6,000 BTU for spaces up to 250 sq ft. The Mini XL delivers 10,000 BTU at the same coverage with stronger output. The 1-Ton (13,200 BTU) covers 400 sq ft. The 1.5-Ton (16,800 BTU), our commercial workhorse, covers 600 sq ft of large office or industrial space. The 1.75-Ton water-cooled unit (18,200 BTU) covers 750 sq ft for spaces without external exhaust access. The 5-Ton multi-unit solution combines several 1.5-Ton units for 56,000+ BTU across spaces up to 2,000 sq ft. Our team handles the sizing during the quote call, and we never over-sell.
What are the most common Charlotte commercial AC rental customers?
Charlotte commercial calls cluster around three triggers: central HVAC failures, capacity expansions that outpace the existing system, and event or temporary cooling needs. The trigger applies across industries, but the most common callers come from corporate offices, healthcare facilities, manufacturing floors, distribution centers, restaurants, hotels, retail spaces, schools, and event venues. The banking, healthcare, and logistics sectors that dominate Charlotte’s economy keep commercial cooling demand steady year-round.
What’s the typical delivery time across the Charlotte metro?
Most Charlotte commercial deliveries arrive in 90 minutes or less. The exact timing depends on your location relative to traffic patterns and current dispatch load. Our service window runs 24 hours a day, every day of the year. Call us anytime at 980-518-2559, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
When do I need a water-cooled unit instead of a standard portable AC?
Most portable AC units vent hot air out through a window or door using a flexible exhaust hose. That works in most Charlotte commercial spaces, but it doesn’t work in Uptown high-rises with fixed windows, interior offices without exterior walls, or sealed environments like server closets. For those spaces, our 1.75-Ton water-cooled unit is the right call. It cools through a water loop instead of pushing exhaust air outside, so it doesn’t need window access. The trade-off is that it needs cold water access for operation. The water-cooled unit covers 750 sq ft and produces 18,200 BTU.
What if I need to keep the rental longer than I originally planned?
Extensions are simple. Call us, tell us how much more time you need, and we’ll extend the rental. There’s no end-date commitment when you start, so you’re never locked into a return date that doesn’t match your actual timeline. Daily and weekly billing both apply, depending on the length. Some Charlotte businesses run rentals for several months during major HVAC replacements or building expansions, while others keep a unit for just a few days. We adapt to either.
Can a portable AC unit cover us during HVAC repairs in Charlotte?
Yes. A rental gives you cooling coverage from the moment the central system fails until the day it comes back online. The rental term is flexible: keep the unit one day, one week, or one month, depending on your repair timeline. When you’re ready to wrap up, our team handles pickup. It’s common to extend the rental as repairs run longer than expected, especially when parts have to ship in.
